Here’s How To Make Flower Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup flour

2 teaspoons grated lemon zest

1 roll (18 oz.) refrigerated cookie dough

1 box icing sugar

2 tablespoons egg white powder

6 1/2 tablespoons water

Yellow, orange and pink food colouring

1/3 cup M&M’S or similar candy

6 pieces STARBURST or similar Fruit Chews

6 pieces of chocolate

2 cookie sheet pans

6 resealable plastic bags

18 Cellophane bags

ribbon

flower cookie cutter

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or foil.

Knead the flour and the grated lemon zest into the cookie dough. Roll it out to a 1/4-inch thickness and using the cookie cutter, cut out 18 cookies, re-rolling the scraps.

Bake for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until golden. Remove from the oven, transfer to wire rack and let cool completely.

Meanwhile, beat the icing sugar, egg white powder and water until fluffy. Divide the frosting into 3 small bowls. Tint one yellow, one orange and one pink, using your food colouring. Frost 6 cookies of each color. Decorate the centers with assorted candies & chocolates. Set the cookies aside for the frosting to dry.

Once dried, place your cookies in cellophane bags, tie each bag with a ribbon & they’re ready to serve.

These happy face cookie pops are so cute, & sure to brighten up your party table. I think it would be a great idea to bake the cookies before hand, and allow your guests to decorate their own cookie at the party. What a fun activity! Just make sure you have lots of candy & frosting on hand, and let the fun begin. You can even use these as party favours after they’ve been decorated. Simply wrap each one with a piece of cellophane & tie with a lovely ribbon.

Alternatively, you can bake & decorate them before hand, and create a lovely display for the party table. To create the display simply use a shallow tray / vase or container, place a piece of styrofoam at the bottom, insert the cookie pops into the styrofoam and pour candy over the foam until completely covered. See the post on Paper treat cones & display.

Here’s How To Make Happy Face Cookie Pops:

Details

Prep Time: 15 mins

Bake Time: 12-15 mins

Decoration Time: 20 mins

Makes 12 cookies

Ingredients

1/4 cup M&M’s or similar candies

18 oz prepared sugar cookie dough

1 tbs flour

food colouring

1 tube decorative white icing

12 (6 inch) lollipop sticks

1 (3 inch) round cookie cutter

12 chewy candies (optional)

1 container white frosting (optional)

Directions

Roll the cookie dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

Press out 3-inch cookies with the cookie cutter and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.

Carefully lift the bottom of the cookies and slip 1-1/2 inches of the lollipop stick underneath the dough. Gently press the dough around the stick.

Bake the cookies in a preheated 350°F oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool the cookies completely before decorating.

If you want to frost the cookies, mix a cup of frosting with a few drops of food colouring of your choice. Frost the cookies and then decorate with candy, in a happy face pattern.

If you do not want to frost the cookies, just dab a bit of white icing on candies and place them on the cookies in a happy face pattern.

Get creative (optional): Cut up the fruity candy into circles, triangles or other shapes to create eyes, ears, noses or hair.

If using as party favours, wrap each cookie in a square of cellophane & tie with a ribbon.

How cute is this tree of party favours! Orignially featured on Women’s Day as a Halloween party idea, I think it’s a brilliant idea for a birthday party. It would be great for a baby shower too, but instead of treat bags, hang baby clothes, blankets, towels etc.

These are so super easy to make. You just need very basic sewing skills, and a sprinkle of creativity.

Materials

Varied 3″ x 4 1/2″ pieces of fabric
Needle and thread or sewing machine
Ribbon, string or twine for drawstring
Scissors
Spray paint & branch

Instructions

Instructions:
1. Fold down long edge of rectangle 5?8″ on wrong side of fabric. Stitch 1?2″ from fold to make casing.
2. Fold rectangle in half, right sides of fabric together. Stitch along cut edges (1?4″ seam allowance), stopping just before casing.
3. Turn right side out. Attach safety pin to drawstring and pull through casing. Tie ends of string together.
4. Hang on previously spray-painted branch.

Don’t forget to allow the paint to dry on the tree before hanging up your bags filled with delightful party treats.
