Yellow is such a summery colour that evokes feelings of warmth and sunshine, and these images just make me so happy and sunny inside! I think this is great inspiration for a sophisticated summery girlfriend brunch, or outdoor baby shower. I especially love the chair covers from Wildflower Linen.  

A yellow and grey candy buffet like this one would be a gorgeous addition, and I love the idea of filling pretty paper cones with candy. There are a few Etsy shops where you can buy pre-made cones, but they are also really easy to make, and you’ll have fun choosing the perfect papers to create your cones.  Here’s a quick tutorial.

I strongly believe in giving back, and helping others who are less fortunate, so I was very pleased to receive an email from Juliet of Green Orchid Events, about a lovely tea party that she and her team designed for twelve deserving underpriviledged girls, in collaboration with a few other great organizations. Juliet recently launched Little Posh Parties, a kids party planning business, and the princess tea party was her first event. According to Juliet, the aim of this event was “to provide these underprivileged girls with the opportunity to experience a tea celebration as they dressed up like princesses.” The girls dressed up and enjoyed a fancy tea party, made their own beaded necklaces, painted pottery, and took photos. The aim was to have each girl leave the event feeling like a princess, and the hope was that the event would have impacted their lives in a small way, and encourage them to follow their dreams. Such a great idea Juliet. Love what you’re doing!

Here’s a fun selection of irresistably pretty valentine pops {cake pops, marshmallow pops, cookie pops}, which would be perfect for the kids to take to their valentine’s class parties, or to give as valentines to their friends and teachers. They’re generally easy to make, and would make fun little valentines projects to do with the kids.

And here’s a great example of how to package them, and make them look even prettier.

Learn how to make them here: heart shaped cookies pops, pillsbury valentine cookie pops, chocolate cookie pops, chocolate cheesecake pops, hello kitty cake pops, pink valentine cake pops, valentine heart cookie pops, strawberry dipped marshmallow pops, valentine sugar cookie pops.          

 Use ribbon to attach homemade invitations to gingerbread house shaped cookies, or gingerbread men cookies, and send them off as invitations. Make a candy cane vase centerpiece and fill it up with evergreens. Fill glass jars with candycanes and festive coloured candy and place them around the room as decorations.  And if you’re feeling adventerous, maybe you’d like to attempt a gingerbread tree centerpiece.

Be sure to prepare the gingerbread houses beforehand so that the party can be just about decorating. Here’s a recipe for making gingerbread houses, but you can also check the supermarket for pre-made houses, or order gingerbread house kits online. Stock up on candy for decorating, or ask guests to bring their own. You’ll need lots of icing to use a ‘cement’ for decorating. You can use store bought icing tubes, or make your own icing and place into small plastic bags for each guest. Refrigerate overnight. Ensure that there’s lost of workspace, and cover your tables with a plastic tablecloth and the floor with a plastic drop cloth. Use pieces of cardboard / foil / or clearwrap for each guest to work on. Have small bowls ready to fill with decorating candy, some cellophane wrap, and ribbon so guests can wrap up their creations to take home.

Have you noticed that I’ve not posted anything new for the past two weeks? I’ve been so totally swamped, that I had no choice but to take a little break from posting!
