‘Inspire Me’, is a fun new feature for 2010. Readers who have a specific theme in mind and are searching for ideas can drop as a line, and we’ll try our best to create a dedicated inspiration board, and throw out some ideas that will hopefully help get the party started. Sherree sent us an email asking for inspiration for her daughter’s 4th birthday party. She had a ballerina theme in mind, and had already purchased a set of ballerina plates (pictured below). I used the plates as inspiration, and thought that a pink & yellow ballerina party would be perfect. The party will be held at the dance studio, where Sherree’s daughter practices ballet so everything needs to be easy to set up and clean up afterwards. I would suggest hanging lots of pink and yellow tissue pom poms from the studio ceiling, to create a pretty, girly atmosphere. You can buy these on Etsy, or make them yourself. I found some lovely ballerina dress cupcake toppers, and favour baskets from JeanKnee on Etsy, which I think would be fabulous additions. Sherree also wanted some ideas for buying or making tutus for all the girls. You can find a great selection of tutus in almost every colour under the sun on Etsy. The yellow pettiskirt pictured above is from here, and the pink tutu from here. Here’s a tutorial for easy no sew Tutus.

ballerina treats

Set up a treats buffet table with lovely pink and yellow treats. I suggest marshmallow pops coated with pink and yellow candy melts, white chocolate covered pretzels, sprinkled with pink and yellow sprinkles. Serve pretty, girly cupcakes like those pictured above, and pretty pink drinks, such as pink lemonade or pink milkshakes. Have some cute flower cookies iced with pink and yellow icing on display, along with pink and yellow assorted candy. Have the girls fill their baskets with candy, to take home as favours.  For invitation ideas have a look: here, here, and here.

Hope you’re inspired Sherree.
