I’ve been fascinated with Marie Antionette from the moment I saw the movie, and lately I’ve been dreaming of a Marie Antionette inspired party! The theme has been used for some pretty fabulous weddings and a I’ve seen one or two girlfriend soirees, but I’ve never seen it adapted to a Kids’ party, so here’s my version of a Marie Antionette inspired kids birthday celebration.

Go for a sophisticated pastel colour scheme, with lots of pink, tons of pretty baked goods, and of course, the infamous paris macroons! Decorate with a variety of pink bouquets with lots of roses, and definitely create an ostrich feather centerpiece. I love the rinestone napkin holder pictured above, and the lovely ribbon tied favour boxes that you can fill up with candy. I absolutely loved the Masquerade Ball scene where Marie Antionette wore her stunning mask, so how about dressing the kids up in pretty feathered masks, boas and gloves? I think they’d love it! You could also use fancy feathered hats instead of masks, if you prefer, and even let the kids decorate their own hats, as a party activity. And if you wanted to go all out, handheld fans, or lace parasols would also look fabulous. This party would probably be more suitable for older kids , maybe in the 12 to 16 age group, and oooh, it would be sooo fabulous!

If anyone is inspired to throw a Marie Antionette inspired party, pleeese send the pictures, I’d love to feature them!
